Social Media Lessons from Crushing It

Gary Vaynerchuk is a widely popular entrepreneur, best known for his business accomplishments and rewarding investments but, also for his huge social media presence. Because of that, we prepared a few Social Media Lessons from Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk.

He spent the first three decades of his life building his father’s company and a wine YouTube channel to go along with it. In 2009 Gary built VaynerMedia to help businesses grow by taking advantage of the social media. Along with his companies, he also worked on growing his social media and providing valuable content to his following.

Because of his established authority in the business world, Gary interacted with hundreds of entrepreneurs helping businesses of all size, many of them from Fortune500. In this period, he gathered a lot of knowledge that he shared in his “Crushing It” book, released last year.

Content is King

Gary’s been preaching about the importance of quality and free content for at least a decade now. He’s considering that valuable content will not only drive your follower count up but, it will also help to scale your business and your perceived authority in your niche.

When you film for a day, you have content for 4-7 hours a day. This leads so much content for a week. This is where we repurpose content to make it valuable for those who want to listen rather than watch.

He’s not only talking about content but, he’s also publishing multiple pieces of content on different platforms every single day. People are consuming three major types of content, video, audio and written. Gary considers that you should pick any of them, in a niche that you’re passionate about, and just stick to it.

He’s a firm believer in posting content daily. Even if it’s insanely difficult to go viral, you can still release multiple pieces of quality content constantly and drive your total views and interactions up, that way.

Underpriced Attention

In today’s day and age, attention is an essential thing because it can easily propel your business’s figures. Considering that the internet is so young, the best thing about attention right now is that it’s immensely underpriced online.

Facebook in our society is the single most underpriced attention platform by a massive delta.

Currently, anybody with the right strategy can pick up a phone and gain a bigger audience than any news channel in the world. Gary considers that getting the people’s attention is easier than ever now, thanks to all of the social media platforms available.

The Importance of Self-Awareness

Among many other things, Gary is also constantly talking about the importance of self-awareness, both in his videos but also in his book. Way too many people are acting falsely nowadays, doing what they think others are expecting from them.

Self awareness is being aware of what you have to offer and what your capabilities are, and then acting according to that information.

In Gary’s views, self-awareness is crucial because it allows people to figure out what they are good at, and what their flaws are. Once people can figure out that, they have all of the liberty to build a great business. Without it, they will end up failing sooner or later.

Conclusion

Gary’s views are widely considered to be of pure wisdom. His opinions about the world around and social media opportunities are as authentic as they can get. Because of that reason, we also included his book on our The Best Business Books of 2018 list. We strongly advise you to check out all of the other books featured on that list.
